A delegation from Lutsk has visited the partner city of Kaunas
On May 27, 2023, a Lutsk City Council delegation took part in a range of events dedicated to the City Days at the invitation of the Mayor of the partner city of Kaunas (the Republic of Lithuania).
The Lutsk City Council delegation included: Volodymyr Zahozhyi, Director of the Department of Youth and Sports, Anastasiia Klushyna, Chief Specialist of International Cooperation and Project Activities Department, and Viktor Kaliukh, Director of the communal institution «Children's and Youth Sports School No. 4 of Lutsk City Council».
The program of the visit included a meeting with representatives of Kaunas City Municipality Administration. In the City Council building, employees of the Departments for Economy, Investments, Projects, Sports, Culture, and International Relations discussed the achievements of the city, the priority directions of development, as well as how Kaunas involves the public in the processes of municipal governance and cooperates with youth organizations.
Case studies on the development of physical culture and sports in the city of Kaunas were particularly interesting. Aiste Lukaševičiute, Head of the Department of Investments and Projects of Kaunas City Council, told about the financing and support mechanisms for mass sports, children's and youth sports, professional and high-achievement sports; construction of sports arenas, sports parks, swimming pools that meet international requirements and standards for holding competitions of various levels. The project for the construction of a new swimming center and a science island was also presented.
The members of the delegation had the opportunity to learn more about the peculiarities of the functioning of the sports sphere by visiting sports infrastructure facilities, in particular, «Žalgiris Arena» – one of the largest multifunctional arenas in the Baltic States.
The acquired knowledge, experience and established contacts will certainly contribute to further positive changes in the spheres of international cooperation, youth policy and sports in Lutsk Сity Territorial Community.
