A final conference within the international project concerning zoo modernization was held in Zamość

On October 20 the delegation of Lutsk City Council, headed by the Deputy Mayor Taras Yakovlev visited the final conference in Zamość. The event was organised by the Lead Partner within the project “Modernization of Zoological Gardens in Zamość and Lutsk and Development of a Concept of Establishing a Recreation Zone in Rzeszów in Order to Develop Cross-border Qualified Nature Tourism”. The project received funding from the Cross Border Cooperation Programme Poland-Belarus-Ukraine 2007-2013.
The event was opened by the Mayor of Zamość Andrzej Wnuk, expressing his gratitude to everyone who was involved in the project and congratulating partners with its successful implementation. The Ukrainian side was presented by Taras Yakovlev, who thanked to managers of Zamoyski zoo for guidance and advice concerning the changes in Lutsk zoo and expressed hope for further cooperation within the future projects.
Among the speakers there also was the director of Lutsk zoo Ludmyla Denysenko and the project coordinator from the Ukrainian side Olexandr Kowalskii, who presented the results of zoo modernization in Lutsk. In addition, there were presentations of project coordinators from Zamość and Rzeszów, representatives of Warsaw zoo, Complex of Lublin voivodership Nature Park in Zamość and the Joint Technical Secretariat.
The conference was summarised by the solemn opening of the new facilities in Zamoyski zoo. In particular, within the framework of the project there was built the pavilion for tapirs, dwarf hippos, capybaras, Patagonian mars with the terrestrial buildings and cascade ponds, three winter pavilions with the ponds for waterfowl, besides it was carried out the external decoration of the zoo.
