Lutsk City Mayor Ihor Polishchuk meets with Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain to Ukraine Ricardo López-Aranda Jagu

Lutsk City Mayor Ihor Polishchuk met with the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain to Ukraine, Ricardo López-Aranda Jagu, and Embassy Counselor Patricio Rumeu Casares.

Ricardo López-Aranda Jagu noted that he has served as Ambassador to Ukraine since 2022. During this time, he has visited many cities across the country, but this is his first time in Lutsk. He came to the city to take part in the 5th International Literary Festival Frontera, which will be held on August 2-3.

As part of his visit to Lutsk, the Ambassador also visited Lyceum No. 18, which is one of seven Spanish language and culture centers in Ukraine funded by the Government of Spain through UNDP.

Mayor Ihor Polishchuk thanked the distinguished guest for visiting Lutsk:

“We are pleased that you came to spend a few days with us. Through you, I would like to thank Spain and all Spaniards for their support of Ukraine and, in particular, for the Spanish studies center operating in our lyceum,” the Mayor told the Ambassador.

The Mayor also invited the Ambassador to take part in a major upcoming event:

“In 2029, we will celebrate the 600th anniversary of the First Congress of Monarchs, which took place at Lubart’s Castle. The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has recently adopted a resolution to mark this occasion at the national level, so we would like to invite you to attend,” said Ihor Polishchuk.

Ambassador Ricardo López-Aranda Jagu replied that he would do his best to take part in the celebration of the 600th anniversary: “On the cultural level, we will certainly be represented, and we may also take part on the political level,” he said.
