Lutsk City Mayor Ihor Polishchuk meets with UNICEF representatives in Ukraine
Lutsk City Mayor Ihor Polishchuk met with UNICEF representatives, including Nienke Voppen, Chief of the Lviv Field Office, to discuss ongoing cooperation. The meeting was attended by Deputy Mayor Iryna Chebeliuk and heads of municipal departments in social services, education, and international cooperation.
The parties discussed priorities in protecting the rights of children with disabilities within the community. Key topics included: support for children with disabilities, including integrated social services, day care, and equal access initiatives; review of current joint projects and outcomes, including a partnership with MUE Lutskvodokanal; implementation of family support programs, inclusive education, and safe spaces for children such as “SPILNO Point” and the "Children’s Space."
UNICEF also contributed to сrisis support for families with children with disabilities and IDPs; renovation and launch of a Family Support Center; pilot projects for integrated care in Volyn, Lviv, and Zakarpattia regions.
The parties highlighted Lutsk’s leadership in child care reform and environmental projects, noting that it was the first city in Ukraine to launch an eco-educational space.
Ihor Polishchuk thanked UNICEF for its support and confirmed readiness to continue collaboration, particularly in expanding social services and community infrastructure.
