Representatives of Germany and the US visited Lutsk City Council
On 27 August 2026, Lutsk City Council held a meeting with community leaders and representatives from the Federal Republic of Germany and the United States of America.
Johannes Volkmann, a member of the Bundestag from the Christian Democratic Union, headed the delegation. First Deputy Mayor Iryna Chebeliuk and Anna Vintsiuk, Head of the International Cooperation and Project Activities Department, attended the meeting. The delegates were accompanied by Oleksandr Lazuka, a deputy of Lutsk City Council and coordinator of the inter-factional association in the European Parliament
The discussion focused on the challenges the Lutsk community faces in wartime, particularly support for internally displaced persons and housing for those who lost their homes to russia's armed aggression. During the meeting, the discussion turned to preparations for the heating season, the stable operation of critical infrastructure, and residents' winter needs. Participants also explored ways to strengthen intermunicipal cooperation and further support from international partners.
Lutsk actively develops partnerships with German communities — the Lippe district and the cities of Schweinfurt and Würzburg. Thanks to this cooperation, several joint projects have been carried out in fields such as transport, energy, healthcare, education and waste management, and significant humanitarian assistance has been provided. Cooperation with American partners is also developing, in particular with the city of Kent in the area of children's rehabilitation.
Iryna Chebeliuk invited the partners to the Congress of Monarchs in Lutsk — a city that positions itself as a space for diplomacy, meetings and dialogue. She emphasised that the Lutsk community, despite the hardships, does not lose hope and believes that Ukraine will achieve victory and that we will have the honour of hosting guests from all over the world to mark this landmark date.
Lutsk City Council thanks its international partners for their consistent support and expresses its readiness to deepen cooperation for the benefit of the community's resilience.
