“Volynianka” – ambassadors of Ukraine at international festivals in Portugal and Spain
The "Volynianka" ensemble continues to proudly represent Ukraine on the global cultural stage. In August, the group took part in two prestigious international festivals: FOLKMONÇÃO – O MUNDO A DANÇAR in Portugal and Xornadas de Folclore in Spain.
Despite the challenges of war, Ukrainian youth are proving that cultural heritage and national traditions remain the living heart of our identity. "Volynianka" not only preserves, but also actively showcases the richness of Ukrainian art to the world, demonstrating the remarkable creative potential of the Ukrainian nation.
At the festival in Portugal, "Volynianka" ensemble presented Ukrainian folklore alongside ensembles from Argentina, Canada, Chile, Spain, the Philippines, Georgia, Turkey, and Portugal. Concerts were held daily in different cities: P. Coura, Cerveira, Arcos, Melgaço, Ponte Lima, Ponte Barsa, and the festival concluded with a gala performance in Monção.
The next stop was the Xornadas de Folclore festival, with concerts in Allariz, Manzaneda, and Entrimo.
In addition to stage performances, "Volynianka" took part in festive parades, official meetings with festival directors, and receptions with city mayors.
Festival organizers praised the ensemble’s professionalism, artistic mastery, organization, and the sincerity and openness of the Ukrainian performers, extending invitations for "Volynianka" ensemble to return next year.
The "Volynianka" ensemble stands as a true cultural ambassador of Ukraine, promoting our national heritage and art within the global community. At a time when Ukraine is defending its independence, it is vital that through art, young people convey the voice of our culture to the world – strong, sincere, and unbreakable.
