Delegation of Lutsk City Council conducts study visit to Gothenburg, Sweden

A delegation from Lutsk City Council carried out a study visit to the city of Gothenburg (Kingdom of Sweden), where they explored Gothenburg’s youth policy and participated in working group meetings of the project “Increase young people’s interest and impact in the municipality decision making process” from February 24 to 26, 2026. The project is jointly implemented by the Executive Committee of Lutsk City Council and the Municipality of Piteå (Sweden) with financial support from the Swedish International Centre for Local Democracy (ICLD).

The Lutsk City Council delegation included: Vitalii Bondar, Director of the Department of Education; Anna Vintsiuk, Head of the Department of International Cooperation and Project Activities; Zaryna Datsyk, Head of the Youth Policy Division of the Department of Youth and Sports; and Khrystyna Slovik, Head of Youth Council at Lutsk City Council.

Together with partners from the Municipality of Piteå, the Lutsk delegation visited the youth centers “Bergsjögården” and “Hjällbo,” where they learned about the centers’ operational concepts aimed at encouraging young people to spend their free time there and independently organize activities. The centers actively cooperate with the police and social services and also employ specialists who work with youth on the streets.

During a visit to Gothenburg City Hall, the delegations took part in a working meeting with specialists responsible for planning and international cooperation and became acquainted with the municipality’s youth policy and youth councils at various levels.

Representatives from Lutsk and Piteå also attended the General Assembly of the Gothenburg Youth Council — the first session during which the council’s leadership was elected.

The participants visited “Torslandaskolan” school, where they familiarized themselves with the organization of the educational process and management approaches.

At “Sandeklevsskolan,” representatives of the institution and social services presented a model for integrating the school into community life under the “School as an Arena” format.

As part of a visit to Lindholmen Science Park, the Lutsk delegation explored the park’s concept and the participatory tool “International Youth Think Tank.”

The study visit took place at the invitation of the Municipality of Piteå (Sweden). The event provided a valuable opportunity to learn from best practices in youth work in Gothenburg, establish new contacts, and discuss the details of implementing the joint youth project between Lutsk and Piteå.
