Lutsk delegation participates in the 7th German-Ukrainian Municipal Partnership Conference in Münster
In June, the city of Münster, Germany, hosted the 7th German-Ukrainian Municipal Partnership Conference under the theme "From Solidarity to Change. For Ukraine. For Europe." The conference aimed to further develop and strengthen partnerships between Ukrainian and German municipalities.
A delegation from Lutsk City Council participated in the event, including: Iryna Chebeliuk, Deputy Mayor of Lutsk; Nataliia Yurchenko, Head of the Legal Department; Yurii Hordiichuk, Head of the Project Activities Division of the International Cooperation and Project Activities Department.
During their time in Münster, the delegation held working meetings with partners from the Lippe District and the city of Würzburg. Lutsk representatives also took part in the presentation of the results of intermunicipal cooperation between Ukraine and Germany – an important reflection of the strong and growing relationships between communities in both countries, especially in times of Russia's aggression.
The conference agenda featured panel discussions with representatives from national governments, local authorities, and public institutions from both Germany and Ukraine. Key topics included:
- Challenges facing municipalities three years into the full-scale war;
- Energy transformation amid crisis;
- The role of municipal enterprises in local economic development;
- Civil protection and community resilience;
- Healthcare delivery and rehabilitation under martial law;
- Cooperation with civil society;
- Combating Russian disinformation;
- Digitalization of governance;
- Transparent reconstruction and anti-corruption efforts;
- Support for Ukraine’s EU integration trajectory.
A special focus was placed on trilateral cooperation between municipalities from Germany, Poland, and Ukraine – a promising format that opens new avenues for experience-sharing and the implementation of joint initiatives.
As part of the conference, the Lutsk delegation also shared their experience in implementing German-funded partnership projects and discussed opportunities for future collaboration with German municipalities.
