A large-scale forum for educators took place in Lutsk

A large-scale forum for educators took place in Lutsk

The educational forum “Creating Preschool Education” was held at the Lutsk business space, bringing together more than one hundred participants — heads of preschool institutions of the Lutsk community, educators, and parents.

With the support of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the event became a platform for discussing the provisions of the Law of Ukraine “On Preschool Education” and presenting UNICEF’s new project for the Lutsk community, “Creating Preschool Education.”

Participants were welcomed by Deputy Mayor of Lutsk Iryna Chebeliuk, who thanked UNICEF for the support the organization provides to the community. “We have very close cooperation with UNICEF, not only in terms of consultations, but also in material support for projects aimed at creating spaces for children.

I would also like to thank the Ministry of Education and Science for the opportunity to discuss painful issues that concern both local self-government bodies and preschool administrators and staff. Because the contribution of educators to the future of the state is extremely significant. I thank you for understanding the difficult situation and for continuing to work and actively participate in the life of the community despite everything,” said Iryna Chebeliuk.

The forum participants were also addressed by the Director of the Department of Education, Vitalii Bondar: “For the third consecutive year, our community has ranked first in surveys among respondents as the one providing high-quality educational services in secondary and preschool education institutions, and the one with the best shelters. Education is a very challenging field. And it’s not only about funding. Above all, it is about investing one’s heart in our future,” the department director noted.

Among the forum speakers was also Yevhen Kuznetsov. Program Manager of the Lviv Regional Office of UNICEF. He thanked Lutsk City Council for its cooperation and reminded participants that the Lutsk community and Volyn Oblast were the first places “where we implemented the reform for better child care. UNICEF has major plans for the Lutsk community this year in the field of preschool education, and today’s event is intended to shed light on them,” emphasized Yevhen Kuznetsov.

Khrystyna Shabat, Head of the Child Dignity Center at the Ukrainian Catholic University, spoke about UNICEF’s plans in the Lutsk community while presenting the “Creating the Environment” project. “The project will continue until November 2026. During this time, we will have active cooperation in various areas. First and foremost, this includes upgrading preschool center facilities — purchasing toys and furniture, carrying out renovations, as well as non-physical improvements such as training, implementing new methodologies, and introducing new metrics,” Khrystyna Shabat explained.
