Youth from Lutsk and Rzeszów compete in final round of nature knowledge quiz in Rzeszów

On May 13, 2025, the final round of a cross-border nature knowledge quiz took place at the “Urban Lab” venue in the partner city of Rzeszów (Republic of Poland), with participation from high school students from both Lutsk and Rzeszów.
The cross-border quiz is part of the international project “Wild life in a big city: protection and promotion of wild nature and biodiversity in Lutsk and Rzeszów,” co-financed by the European Union under the Interreg NEXT Poland–Ukraine 2021–2027 Program.
Ten finalist teams, winners of the earlier semi-final rounds held in Lutsk and Rzeszów, competed in the final. Each team consisted of three students representing schools from the partner cities. The Lutsk community was represented by 15 students from secondary schools Nos. 4, 11, 14, 23, 26.
The final event in Rzeszów was attended by Krzysztof Stańko, Deputy Mayor of Rzeszów; Alla Nastych, Project Manager of the Joint Secretariat of the Interreg NEXT Poland–Ukraine 2021–2027 Program; Robert Homicki, Economic Development and Entrepreneurship Advisor to the Mayor of Rzeszów; and Aleksandra Wąsowicz-Duch, Director of the Department of Urban Greenery.


The students demonstrated a high level of knowledge in areas such as wildlife, biodiversity, protected areas under the Natura 2000 and Emerald Network systems, and European nature conservation legislation.




The winners of the final round were:
- 1st Place: Team from the Sports School Complex in Rzeszów
- 2nd Place: Team from Vasyl Sukhomlynsky Lyceum No. 14, Lutsk
- 3rd Place: Team from Modest Levytskyi Lyceum No. 4, Lutsk



All winners and participants received promotional prizes provided by the project.
The event served not only as a competition but also as a platform for knowledge exchange between the youth of Lutsk and Rzeszów. The initiative aims to foster environmental awareness, promote responsible attitudes toward nature, and encourage young people to actively participate in preserving natural heritage.
