Representatives of the Tauragė District (Republic of Lithuania) visited the Lutsk City Council
On 14 August, a working meeting with a delegation from the Tauragė District of the Republic of Lithuania was held at Lutsk City Council.
The meeting was attended by First Deputy Mayor Iryna Chebeliuk, Deputy Mayor Yuliia Datsiuk, and Anna Vintsiuk, Head of the International Cooperation and Project Activities Department.
The Lithuanian delegation included: Sigitas Mičiulis, a member of the Tauragė District Council; Mindaugas Lukošaitis, a member of the Tauragė District Council; Aretas Ežerskis, Head of the Fire and Rescue Service; and Tadas Pauparis, Director of UAB "Tauragės vandenys".
The participants discussed ways to further cooperation between the Lutsk City Territorial Community and the Tauragė District. They focused particularly on energy efficiency, water supply and wastewater management, project activities, as well as youth policy and sports. In particular, the parties discussed the possibility of inviting young athletes from Lutsk to take part in competitions to be held at the new large sports complex in Tauragė.
During the discussion, the parties exchanged information on the current challenges posed by the war, the specifics of life in the Lutsk community and its adaptation to the conditions of martial law. They addressed pressing problems and needs, including the adaptation of veterans to civilian life, in particular through sport.
Iryna Chebeliuk noted that Lutsk is preparing to mark the 900th anniversary of the Congress of European Monarchs in 2029 — a historic meeting that recalls the city's deep European roots.
The Tauragė District has repeatedly provided humanitarian and financial assistance to Lutsk. Iryna Chebeliuk and Yuliia Datsiuk thanked the Lithuanian partners for their many years of support and financial assistance.
The participants expressed their hope for further fruitful cooperation and the implementation of important joint projects.
The cooperation agreement between Lutsk and the Tauragė District was signed on 19 October 2023 during a visit by a delegation led by the then Mayor, Dovydas Kaminskas. Cooperation began as early as 2017. Tauragė organises summer camps for children from families of ATO participants, active servicemen, as well as those killed and missing in action. This year, 19 children from the families of servicemen of the Lutsk community rested at such a camp.
