He noted that the project is being implemented by the Lippe District of the Federal Republic of Germany (Lead Partner) and the Executive Committee of Lutsk City Council (Partner) within the framework of the "Sustainable Municipal Development through Partnership Projects (NAKOPA 2025)" program. It is co-financed by the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany through the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, represented by Engagement Global gGmbH / Service Agency Communities in One World.
The total project budget is €550,000, with €495,000 in grant funding and a €55,000 contribution from the Lutsk community (10% of the total amount).
The STEM education center will be established based on the communal institution "Interschool Resource Center of the Lutsk City Council" located on Olimpiiska Street (formerly Pysarevskoho Street).
The project includes measures to modernize the heat supply system, energy supply system, thermal modernization of the building's exterior walls, insulation of the roof and basement ceiling, installation of a ventilation system, creation of a green interactive zone in the adjacent area, arrangement of an interactive educational space in the format of a cinema hall for video and audio visualization of educational and promotional materials, screening of educational videos, exchange of experience between experts from Lutsk and Lippe, creation of a website for the educational center.
The implementation of the program and, accordingly, the international grant project is expected to:
- Increase the energy efficiency of the STEM education center building;
- Reduce greenhouse gas emissions;
- Lower heating and electricity costs for the STEM education center;
- Create comfortable conditions for students and teachers;
- Enhance public awareness of climate change issues and the necessity of implementing measures for mitigation and adaptation, particularly through energy-saving initiatives and green technologies;
- Strengthen cooperation with the twin Lippe District, Federal Republic of Germany;
- Affirm the positive image of Lutsk City Territorial Community as an active participant in international grant programs focused on innovation and climate adaptation.
The implementation of the project "Energy modernization of a new STEM education center in Lutsk: promoting climate action" will ensure comprehensive energy-efficient modernization of the building, which will serve as the foundation for the STEM education center. This, in turn, will contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, improving the environmental situation in the community, and providing more comfortable and attractive conditions for the educational process.
The program "Implementation of the international project ′Energy modernization of a new STEM education center in Lutsk: promoting climate action′ for 2025-2028" will be approved by the city council deputies at the next plenary session.
