International handball tournament held in Tauragė as part of Erasmus+ project

International handball tournament held in Tauragė as part of Erasmus+ project

An international handball tournament took place in Tauragė, Lithuania, as part of the Erasmus+ project "SPORTS – Strengthening Partnerships and Opportunities through Recreational Team Sports." This initiative brings young people together not only on the court but also beyond it—promoting healthy lifestyles, cultural exchange, and meaningful dialogue. The project supports both physical and psychological well-being, reinforces European partnerships through grassroots sports, and contributes to the development of handball at both the local and international levels.

The participation of the Ukrainian team was part of ongoing cooperation between Tauragė District Municipality and Lutsk City Territorial Community, built on their established twinning partnership.

According to the results of the tournament, first place was claimed by the team from Karlovac, Croatia. The women's team from Selfoss, Iceland, secured second place. Third place went to the combined team representing Lutsk and Novovolynsk, Ukraine. The hosts, Tauragė SC from Lithuania, finished in fourth place, while fifth place was taken by the women's team from Bytów, Poland.

*Project funded by European Union and Tauragė municipality.
