Two international projects on civil protection presented in Lutsk

Lutsk hosted launch conferences marking the start of two international projects involving emergency services from the Volyn oblast. These are international technical assistance initiatives being implemented under the Interreg NEXT Poland–Ukraine 2021–2027 Program.

The first project, ClimSafe, focuses on building resilience to climate change, particularly natural disasters and wildfires. The second project, HydroGuard, aims to enhance safety and emergency response in the cross-border region between Poland and Ukraine.

The launch conferences brought together emergency service personnel from Volyn, representatives of the Interreg NEXT Poland–Ukraine 2021–2027 donor program, the fire department of Lublin, officials from the Polish city of Augustów, the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in Lutsk, as well as regional authorities from Volyn and Lutsk City Council.

Lutsk City Mayor expressed his gratitude to the emergency responders for their demanding work and wished the conference participants productive discussions and a positive experience in Lutsk.

During the event, both projects were formally presented. The planned activities include the purchase of specialized vehicles and rescue equipment, personnel training, and a public education campaign for children called “Safe Summer.” Under the ClimSafe project, the reconstruction of a training and practical center for volunteer firefighters, as well as a rescue training facility in Lutsk, is also planned.
