Volunteers from the Åland Islands brought a vehicle and sports equipment to an amp-football team from Lutsk

A volunteer group from the Åland Islands visited Lutsk. For the past four years, they have been providing support and assistance to Ukraine during this difficult time of war.

Today, the partner volunteers delivered a minibus and sports equipment to the amputee football team "Khrestonostsi" ("Crusaders") so they can continue to develop and travel comfortably to training sessions and competitions.

A year ago, the Åland volunteers learned that an amputee football team had been formed in the Lutsk community and was actively training and preparing for competitions. At that time, they immediately brought the team sports bags, water bottles, and footballs. After speaking with team members and the club manager, Nataliia Nazaruk, they discovered that the athletes had transportation problems and promised to help solve the issue.

Today, the friends from Finland brought the team a bus along with sports equipment: footwear, bottles, blankets, and everything else needed for the training process.

The foreign delegation was welcomed together with the "Khrestonostsi" team by the Secretary of Lutsk City Council, Kateryna Shkloda.

The delegation that arrived in Lutsk included the head of the Ukrainian branch of the Mariehamn Rotary Club and Mariehamn City Council deputy Monica von Frenckell, who officially presented the team with the keys to the minibus.

Secretary of Lutsk City Council Kateryna Shkloda thanked Ms. Monica and the volunteers who helped organize fundraising for the purchase of the vehicle for the amputee football team, expressing gratitude for their active and effective support for Ukraine and the local community in particular:

“We are extremely grateful to our partners for their constant assistance. Beyond the material support, we feel their solidarity and know that in difficult times we are not alone, and this helps us stay strong.

Right now, the team is preparing for the April championship in Turkey, where they will represent Ukraine in a major competition. They are a true example of strength of will and spirit for all of us. We are incredibly proud of them and wish them victory. Regardless of the result the boys return with, they will remain for us a symbol of resilience,” she noted.
