Lutsk received a brand-new Mercedes-Benz Sprinter from the twinning city of Schweinfurt

Lutsk received a brand-new Mercedes-Benz Sprinter from the twinning city of Schweinfurt

The Administration of the city of Schweinfurt provided Lutsk with free humanitarian aid in the form of a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter vehicle as part of the implementation of the 2023 partnership agreement between the two cities.

Lutsk received the vehicle for transporting veterans and residents who require special care conditions.

“Thanks to the productive cooperation between the Department of International Cooperation and Project Activities and our German partners, Lutsk has now received this vehicle. Its special feature is that it can transport veterans who use wheelchairs. The vehicle, manufactured in 2026, is equipped with a fold-out ramp for lifting wheelchairs. We understand that there are currently many needs — veterans must be taken to rehabilitation centers and transported to various locations. This vehicle will be used specifically for such needs within our community. Together with the Veterans Policy Department, we will ensure that the vehicle is actively used, because we have thousands of veterans, and unfortunately many of them use wheelchairs. We thank our colleagues from Schweinfurt for this assistance,” said mayoral adviser Roman Kravchuk.

The vehicle can transport eight passengers at the same time and accommodate two wheelchairs. Passenger seats can also be removed to fit up to four wheelchairs, demonstrating the vehicle’s flexibility and operational efficiency.

Roman Kravchuk added that, in addition to this aid, the city council is developing a number of projects that they plan to implement in the community in the future.

Deputy Head of the Department of International Cooperation and Project Activities Yurii Hordiichuk said that since the beginning of cooperation with the twinning city of Schweinfurt, all efforts have been focused on supporting the community.

“Our foreign partners agreed to actively support us, and they received requests from us regarding the assistance we needed. During the negotiations, we submitted a request for a vehicle, and in less than a year we received it,” he noted.

The vehicle will remain on the balance sheet of the Executive Committee of Lutsk City Council and may be used by any department to support the needs of veterans, their families, and all categories of residents who require such assistance.
