Lutsk delegation participates in the Trakai City Festival
A delegation from Lutsk City Council visited the city of Trakai (Republic of Lithuania) as part of the Trakai City Festival and took part in the official events held to mark the occasion.
The delegation included Kateryna Moisiiuk, Head of the Tourism and City Promotion Department; Yuliia Babych, Head of the Tourism Development Division; and Nataliia Zhgutova, Deputy Head of the Secretariat. During the visit, the representatives of Lutsk participated in the festival's international program and held a series of meetings with partners and local government officials.
Delegations from cities in Georgia, Germany, Poland, and Türkiye also took part in the Trakai City Festival, highlighting the event's international character and the importance of intermunicipal cooperation within the European community.
During their stay, the Lutsk delegation explored Trakai's social, cultural, sports, and tourism infrastructure. In particular, they visited a general education school, the city stadium, the cultural center, the library, the city's museums, and a landscape nature reserve. Special attention was given to best practices in the conservation and management of protected natural areas, as well as the development of ecotourism.
An official reception hosted by the Mayor of Trakai, Andrius Šatevičius, was an important part of the program. During the reception, the head of the Lutsk City Council delegation, Kateryna Moisiiuk, delivered a welcoming address.
In her speech, she congratulated the Trakai community and expressed gratitude to the Lithuanian people for their comprehensive support of Ukraine during the full-scale war. She emphasized the historical ties between Lutsk and Trakai, their shared European path, and the common values of freedom and independence that unite both communities. She also highlighted the symbolic significance of the 1429 Congress of European Monarchs in Lutsk as a historical example of dialogue, diplomacy, alliance-building, and the pursuit of collective security in Europe. She noted that these issues remain just as relevant today, nearly six centuries after the event.
As part of the meetings, the delegation established contacts with the Trakai Tourism Information Centre and the administration of the Trakai Historical National Park. They also examined the experience of developing protected natural areas, including a wetland complex, with the aim of applying these practices to the further development of tourism infrastructure in the Lutsk community.
