Ambassador of the EU to Ukraine, Katarína Mathernová, is on a working visit to Lutsk
Today, Ambassador of the European Union to Ukraine, Katarína Mathernová, is in Lutsk on a working visit. Together with the Secretary of Lutsk City Council, Kateryna Shkloda, and representatives of the regional authorities, she began her day with a moment of silence at Theater Square and by honoring the memory of the fallen Heroes at the memorial photo display “Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred — They Died for the Unity of Ukraine.”
The Ambassador visited the Family Support Center, which was financed by UNICEF and is now operating with funding from the Lutsk City Territorial Community.
Katarína Mathernová noted that the European Union is the organization that funds UNICEF’s activities, and UNICEF, in turn, helps local communities.
“For us, the Better Care reform (the ‘Better Care for Every Child’ Program) is extremely important. We actively support it. We also want to acknowledge Ukraine for paying great attention to child care during these difficult times. Children do not start wars, but they suffer from them the most,” she said.
Kateryna Shkloda thanked the European Union Ambassador to Ukraine for visiting the community and for supporting social services.
“The Family Support Center is an extremely important place. Children with disabilities and their families who receive services here are very satisfied and grateful to both the community, UNICEF, and the European Union for creating such a center. We understand that establishing similar centers and providing social services in full is very difficult, especially during wartime, so we are sincerely grateful to our partners for their assistance and for supporting the development of our community,” said the Secretary of Lutsk City Council.
