Lutsk City Mayor Ihor Polishchuk met with the Ambassador of the Republic of Slovenia to Ukraine, Mateja Prevolšek

On June 19, Lutsk City Mayor Ihor Polishchuk met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Slovenia to Ukraine, Mateja Prevolšek, who visited Lutsk as part of the “Green School Gardens – Nature, Children, Community” project. The initiative is being implemented by ALPS RESILIENCE UKRAINE in cooperation with the NGO Brainstorm and with the support of the Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia in Kyiv.

Also present at the meeting were Taras Prytula, Economic, Development and Cooperation Advisor at the Embassy of Slovenia in Ukraine; Oleksandra Kartvelishvili, Head of the Ukrainian Office of ALPS RESILIENCE; Anna Vintsiuk, Head of the International Cooperation and Project Activities Department of Lutsk City Council; and Anton Yevtushok, Head of the NGO Brainstorm.

The goal of the "Green School Gardens – Nature, Children, Community" project is to promote responsible consumption and an environmentally conscious approach. As part of the project, a series of lectures and workshops were held for children under 10, and more than 80 raised garden beds were installed for children to conduct experiments and make observations. The project involved several departments of the Lutsk City Council, including the Department of Education, the Department of Youth and Sports, and the Department of Ecology.

On June 20, the final event of the project takes place at School No. 17.

During the meeting, Ihor Polishchuk and Mateja Prevolšek discussed potential areas for cooperation. Ambassador Prevolšek noted that the Slovenian government supports reform implementation in Ukraine at the national level in the context of European integration. She added that there are currently 13 partnerships developing between cities in Ukraine and Slovenia, and emphasized that the embassy is open to new ideas and initiatives.

Mayor Polishchuk shared information about Lutsk, expressed hope that the guests would enjoy the city, and wished them a pleasant stay.
