Lutsk teachers participate in training as part of youth engagement project
On 17–18 June 2026, a training session "Interactive Methods for Working with Youth in Schools" was held at the Lutsk Business Space. Teachers from the Lutsk community took part in the event.
The training was organized as part of the project "Increase young people’s interest and impact in the municipality decision making process," implemented by the Lutsk City Territorial Community in partnership with the Municipality of Piteå (Sweden).
The training aimed to increase teachers' awareness of modern and innovative approaches that can be incorporated into the educational process to foster young people's civic competencies and leadership skills.
A total of 41 representatives from all schools in the Lutsk community participated in the training. Participants included teachers of English, Ukrainian history, law, civic education, and other subjects.
Opening remarks were delivered by Vitalii Bondar, Director of the Department of Education of Lutsk City Council, and Anna Vintsiuk, Head of the International Cooperation and Project Activities Department. The training was conducted by trainers representing the NGOs "Lutsk Science Park" and "Brainstorm".
Over the course of two days, participants explored interactive methods and practical tools for working with young people. The program covered topics including debates and discussion-based learning, gamification of the educational process, project-based learning, adaptation of the Council of Europe's Compass manual to the Ukrainian context, fostering youth initiative, and the use of digital tools for teaching, visual communication, and educational content creation. The training was delivered in an interactive format featuring practical exercises, discussions, and group work.
At the conclusion of the training, all participants received certificates.
Background
The project "Increase young people’s interest and impact in the municipality decision making process" is implemented with the support of the Swedish International Centre for Local Democracy (ICLD) and funded through grants provided by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida), a government agency under Sweden's Ministry for Foreign Affairs.
As part of the project, a sociological survey has already been conducted. Planned activities also include a training program for leaders in the youth sector and the development of a workbook for representatives of both formal and non-formal education, containing recommendations for strengthening young people's civic competencies.
