Lutsk City Council representatives visited the Tauragė District Municipality in Lithuania

Lutsk City Council representatives visited the Tauragė District Municipality in Lithuania

From June 5 to 8, 2025, the partner city of Tauragė hosted the annual event “Tauro Ragas 2025,” dedicated to the 518th anniversary of the city. At the invitation of the Mayor of Tauragė District Municipality, a delegation from Lutsk City Council took part in the official events. The delegation included: Yuliia Datsiuk, Deputy Director of the Economic Policy Department; Anastasiia Klushyna, Head of the International Relations Division of International Cooperation and Project Activities Department; Yuliia Nazaruk, Head of the International Cooperation, Interaction with Civil Society Institutions, and Attraction of Financial Assistance Division of the Veterans Policy Department.

A meeting was held at the Tauragė District Administration with members of the municipal leadership and the city council. Dovydas Kaminskas, Mayor of Tauragė District, presented the municipality's activities, strategies, projects, and the challenges facing the region. Key development priorities include green energy, circular economy, and youth policy. The city is open to innovation and actively participates in all pilot programs and projects of the Lithuanian government, guided by the motto: “We are too small to change the world, but big enough to set an example.”

It is important and meaningful that the Lithuanian city dedicates significant attention to supporting its Ukrainian partner cities and Ukraine as a whole. Since 2017, with the support of the Tauragė District Administration, children from families of Ukrainian defenders in Lutsk have spent summers at camps in Tauragė. Following the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, the municipal budget has consistently allocated funds to support Ukraine’s humanitarian needs.

Delegations from Ukraine (Lutsk, Ternopil), Poland (Ostróda, Bytów, Bełchatów), Germany (Riedstadt), France (Brienne-le-Château), and Georgia (Zestafoni) were also treated to tours of local institutions such as the STEAM Center, Martynas Mažvydas Gymnasium, the School of Arts, and the “Norkaičiai” Crafts Center – all operating in the region.

Various aspects of the city’s life were presented during visits to a wind power plant, local businesses, the industrial park, and a construction site for the future “Šaltinis” stadium. These tours were led by City Councilor and former Mayor of Tauragė District Municipality Sigitas Mičiulis, whose term saw the beginning of active cooperation with the city of Lutsk.

As part of the city’s 518th anniversary celebrations, the “International Secret Recipes: Enjoy the Flavor, Discover the Essence” Nations Fair was also held. To promote Lutsk and the region, representatives of the company “MULTI COOK” participated in the fair and presented local cuisine.

The visit concluded with an official reception at Tauragė Castle, attended by the municipal leadership and all delegations. During the event, representatives of the twin cities delivered welcoming speeches, shared outcomes of their partnership with the Tauragė District, and exchanged gifts.
