Students from Lutsk return from a holiday stay in Schweinfurt, Germany
From 28 June to 4 July 2026, ten students from the Lutsk City Territorial Community enjoyed a holiday stay in the German city of Schweinfurt. The invitation continued the long-standing friendship between the partner cities of Lutsk and Schweinfurt. It was not the first time that the German side had given Ukrainian children the opportunity to take a break from the realities of war, experience a different culture, and spend time with their peers.
During the week, the participants stayed at a youth hostel on the banks of the River Main. The hosts prepared a diverse programme combining educational, cultural, and recreational activities. The students attended classes at a German school, taking part in lessons in mathematics, English, German, and physics. To help them settle in, each student was paired with a German peer, encouraging meaningful interaction, providing insight into the German education system, and helping improve their language skills.

In addition to attending school, the children enjoyed a variety of activities, including an excursion to the historic city of Bamberg, a visit to the Schaeffler manufacturing facility, a game of mini golf, a relaxing afternoon at Baggersee lake, a leather bracelet-making workshop, evening walks around Schweinfurt, and a barbecue. Travelling by public transport and experiencing everyday life and local traditions in Germany also became valuable parts of the visit.

The students returned to Lutsk with lasting memories, new friendships, and renewed motivation to continue learning and developing.
We sincerely thank our partner city of Schweinfurt and everyone involved in organising this visit for their warm hospitality, care, attention to our children, and continued support for the Lutsk community. We highly value our partnership and look forward to further strengthening the friendship between our communities.
